Who Needs Lunch Anyway?

September 9, 2013

Phew! Today was crazy, crazy busy! After making my morning commute, I was way early (as usual), so I stopped in the nearby Starbucks and had a drink while waiting for an appropriate time to head in. Michelle Roth spoke at our morning meeting again, since it is the last day of the trunk show, and to be honest, I can’t really remember what it was about!

Today, Joan paired me with a consultant named Judith who has been working at Kleinfeld for 28 years; she’s a riot! Obviously, with that many years of experience, she knows all of the tricks and has dealt with so many different experiences and personalities. Because of that, it was really fun and interesting working with Judith. She gave me some hints on understanding the brides which I’m sure I’ll find to be very useful.

Anyway, our first appointment was with a girl we’ll call Christine. Her and her mother have been to 5 bridal stores in the past 2 days and were looking to beat a simple, lace dress they had seen during their hunt. Christine said that she loved the dress, but it was missing something that she couldn’t quite place. We let Christine look at the Michelle Roth dresses from the trunk show, and she picked out a few she liked. After trying some on, Christine put on a strapless, dropped waist, lace dress with a ruffled bottom and sparkles throughout. It looked stunning on her! Christine spent some time thinking about it and decided to head out to lunch. Judith and I were certain she would come back but she hadn’t.

I’ll fast-forward into our second appointment with a girl we’ll call Danielle who brought along her mother, sister, aunt, and two cousins. After a lot of fuss from the aunt, Danielle was sold on a Pnina Tornai gown and said “yes!” Judith had me write everything up and go over the contract with her, but on the way to the cashiers office, Danielle’s aunt pulled her aside and had a private conversation. To all of our surprise, Danielle came into the office and told her mom she actually wasn’t ready to make the decision! Long story short, she came back at the end of the day with just her mom and her sister, and after telling us that her aunt was making her second guess everything, she decided she wanted to come back with just her mom and sister and put the dress on to make sure. Danielle went back to her original decision of choosing the dress! It was a good choice; it looked beautiful.

Our middle appointment (we’ll call Nancy) chose her dress today too! She went with a strapless lace dress with a sweetheart neckline and a really pretty back. When we put the veil on her and handed her flowers to hold, Nancy started crying, which made her best friend/maid of honor cry, and gave me so many goose bumps! It was really sweet. She’s getting married in Punta Cana next December, and her dress will look stunning on the beach.

Another appointment left with two dresses in mind from Kleinfeld to choose from. I think she wants to go other places and continue trying on dresses. Her mom didn’t love the one she did, and vice versa, so the bride didn’t feel complete. Finally, our last appointment chose a gown from the Michelle Roth trunk show. To be honest, I’m actually kind of surprised she chose the dress, because she didn’t seem like she loved it, but I guess everyone expresses that differently…

Now I’m in dire need of a nap, a massage, and a personal chef! We had such a busy day that lunch time was cut out and there weren’t any chances to sit down. Regardless, it was a lot of fun, and I’m excited to have off tomorrow!
