While I haven’t written in a few days, I’ve been so super busy! Saturday and Sunday were both normal days at work, as far as I can remember, and I left from Kleinfeld to Penn Station Sunday after work for a quick trip home. I didn’t have another long weekend, but an early morning doctors appointment on Monday made the trip necessary. The train ride home was uneventful and I had a calzone at dinner which I only regretted about twenty minutes after inhaling it. But man, it was good.
Home wasn’t too exciting. After waiting an hour to get called into my doctors appointment, I met up with mom at the mall and spent some money I should have saved. It’s pretty impossible not to shop on occasion though, so I would say it was worth it! We had lunch at California Pizza Kitchen, and then I spent the rest of the afternoon in the sun. I love this wonderful fall weather and wish I wasn’t inside at work all the time!
I caught a 4:48 train from Ronkonkoma and headed back into Manhattan for dinner. Kristine Shatas, who works at Career Services back at Stonehill and runs the externship program, was down visiting from Massachusetts to see how our semesters have been so far! Jackie, Grace, Cynthia and I all met her at an awesome Mexican restaurant called Dos Caminos and spent hours eating and chatting about every topic possible (www.doscaminos.com). Their guacamole is superb, by the way. It was really great to catch up and have a nice night out with everyone. We made it back to the Bronx around 11 and all passed out soon after.
This morning, I dragged myself out of bed and headed into work a bit early for an informal Dennis Basso fashion show. Although his official show was held at Kleinfeld last week, not everyone attended, so the consultants and interns were asked to come early to see the gowns. There were some that were awesome and others that I could have been fine without seeing, but it was a fun start to the morning.
Afterwards, I was placed to work with Paula, who I haven’t been with before, and the day was pretty busy! I was in and out of the appointments with Paula, because I was pulled to work with comeback brides, and then at 3:30 Kristine and Surabhi (who works with the intern council) came to Kleinfeld for a site visit. I was able to show them all around the salon, which was a ton of fun, and then the three of us sat down for a while and chatted with Joan. After they left, I went back with Paula, and the last appointment ran so late that I was there an hour beyond closing time. I was about to fall asleep standing up when Paula told me I could go home. She’s the sweetest lady, by the way.
Anyway, now I’m back in the Bronx and chose the classes I hope to get into next semester. If I take a few summer courses, I can graduate a semester early, and I’m trying to leave that option open. It’s so weird to think that I’ll be graduating in a year to a year and a half, and while I’m not totally sure what I’m planning on doing with my life, I think I’m ready for it. Only time will tell!
