Hi from Montenegro!
I’m currently sitting on our balcony in Kotor overlooking the beautiful bay and mountains, and am thinking about how happy I am to have such a great partner to go on this journey with. For real, guys, Brett is the best.
Upon leaving Dubrovnik, the Travel Gods finally decided to help us out a bit, and Sixt Car Rental upgraded us from a go-kart sized manual car to an automatic Audi SUV!! We’re now driving in style, hehe.
Anyway, Dubrovnik was absolutely stunning, and it is currently #1 on our list of favorite places so far. Between the amazing views and breathtaking water, it will be a hard one to beat!
Surrounding Dubrovnik, the Adriatic Sea is so clear, and was the perfect temperature for us to jump in and cool off! Just next to Old Town, we found a beach called Banje Beach, which was made up of smooth white stones and tiles with rounded edges from years of being in the sea. It was so pretty! Plus, since the sea floor was made up of all white stones, the water was so, so blue!
After some searching around, Brett found a super affordable kayak rental kiosk at Banje Beach, and we set out to explore the Adriatic! We happened upon caves, empty beaches, and cliffs to jump off of, and made our way around Lokrum, an island just off Dubrovnik’s coast. We even kept our life jackets on for part of the trip (you’re welcome, Mom).
On our first night, we climbed around the Old Town city walls for a private view of the sunset and a dip in the water. We were on the wrong side of Dubrovnik to get an unobstructed view, but it was still beautiful, and I’d take a little bit of an obstructed view for watching the sunset while swimming in the Adriatic any day!
Dubrovnik has stolen our hearts, and I’m so glad we were able to experience such a beautiful place together!
