California (and Europe), Here We Come

August 10, 2017

Hi pals,

I’ve been waiting a few months to shout the following news from the rooftops, to talk to every one in the world about it, to not have to hide all of the excitement in my life anymore!

For years and years and years, I have been a California Dreamer. Something about living on the West Coast has always been so attractive to me, and after Brett and I vacationed in San Diego last February, we decided that it was absolutely somewhere we could and should be living. After about a year of planning and saving and plotting, we put our dreams into motion and made the decision that 2017 would be the year of our cross country trek! Now, finally, I’m free to tell any and everyone that, in the beginning of November, Brett and I will be leaving our lives behind in New York to move to San Diego! I am so, so overjoyed and excited that this is actually happening. But, that’s not all…

Sunset Cliffs San Diego

A few months ago, my department at The Knot was sunsetted, forcing me to look for another position. Being that I absolutely love working for The Knot, I accepted a position in the sales department, deciding that it never hurts to try something new. I quickly learned that cold calling isn’t for me, and no longer loved my day-to-day. Feeling inspired by our upcoming move (and all of the travel accounts I follow on Instagram), I fed Brett a bottle of wine and convinced him that we needed a break from our 9-5s (or 5-5s, in Brett’s case), and that we will never run into another time in our lives where we will both be leaving our jobs at the same time, and that since we have nothing big tying us down that there is no reason in the world that we shouldn’t spend time traveling through Europe before our move…!!! After even more planning and saving and plotting, Brett and I have added a 40-day European Adventure onto our calendars, beginning in September!

I still cannot fully wrap my mind around the adventures we are about to go on — San Diego has been a dream of mine for years, and I never would have imagined being able to go on such an exciting travel journey as well.

More details to come about our plans and itinerary. I can’t wait to share our adventures with everyone!

  1. Paisley,
So great to hear you are doing well and enjoying life. Congratulations on the move to California. I lived there for 12 years and miss it a lot. Europe is great and I spent most of the ’90s touring through every country. If you need some info or advice on things to do, see or cultural differences, please give me a shout. Miss you,
P.S. Vampire chickens are all over Austria.

    1. Haha! It’s so great to hear from you! I am so excited for these adventures, and will definitely use you as a resource! XO
